This position involves planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and managing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and wireless networks for customer organizations as well as providing technical guidance in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all devices, software, and communication equipment in the network. This individual will serve as a customer point-of-contact for analyzing and resolving all equipment/hardware and software issues in a timely and accurate fashion and assuring the customer IT infrastructure remains operational, available, and secure.
Proven experience and success in the design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of local and wide-area networks. Experienced with network capacity planning, network security principles, network management and administration, and best practices. Hands-on technical knowledge of networks, servers, sub-netting, filtering and VLAN, WLAN, WAN, DMZ, TCP/IP and other protocols.
NOTE: Actual experience beyond the classroom with Active Directory, Exchange Server, and SQL Server is a must!
Strong knowledge of current server and PC hardware, operating systems, and mobile devices. Familiar with networking CIDR, routing, firewall, endpoint security, and intrusion detection principles. Experienced with applications such as Microsoft SQL and Exchange/Outlook. Able to act independently but also able to play a role in coordinating team projects and assisting other technical staff when required. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required. Able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Good communication and customer service skills and the ability to provide help desk telephone support are also requirements. Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or any combination of education and industry standard certification (A+, Network+, MCP, MCSE, CCNP) with experience-proven skills and ability may substitute.
