The Kennewick school district has a thriving Marimba program. In 5th grade, our son tried out for, and was chosen to play with his school in the district program. Soon after his selection into the program, we bought the Cadence C660 3 octave marimba for our son who we thought was on his way to becoming a child prodigy. He sorely disappointed us.
We bought this marimba gently used a few years ago from Brook Mays Music Company in Dallas, TX. The music company rented the marimba to one student for a week. The student used it one time in a performance (apparently the school they played with did not have enough marimbas to go around). Possibly the student's parents thought their child was going to be a prodigy, and after being sorely disappointed decided to return the marimba prematurely. Or maybe the rental was only for a week.
Seriously, this is a good quality product listed for a fair price. It was a great practice instrument for our son. It is a little sad to see it go, but hopefully it will bring another family some good memories as it did ours.
The marimba has 27 Wood Keys and comes with a plethora of mallets, a case, and a stand. In this case, a plethora is 18. The case holds the stand in addition to the marimba and mallets.

One of the biggest pros to the marimba is, is it is NOT a drum kit, trombone, recorder, etc. It is pleasant to hear even if your child isn't very good.
