I came from Ukraine to Washington DC and I taught the Ukrainian language in a Christian school part time. I took a job as a nanny to 2 girls, aged 6 months and 2 years old, in their home. I played with them, read books, we danced together, went to the park, and I taught music – my Master’s degree is in art and music. I took classes for CPR, drivers license, and learned English.
Eighteen years ago we moved to the Tri-Cities. My husband at that time was a scientist and got a job with Battelle. I found a job as a nanny with the son of a doctor and a dentist. He was 1 year old and I worked for this family for 16 years. He now has his own car, so I was not needed after that. We spent time at the park, the library, and the swimming pool. I drove him to school at St. Joseph’s Elementary School and worked there as a volunteer in the library and art class, and one year teaching Russian language (6th grade). I also dropped him in tennis and swimming lessons, and also Sylvan for their science program.
I also did light housework in their home; ironing, cooking, and laundry.
I am allergic to dogs, they cause my asthma to flair up. I believe cats are alright though.
I was never late and stayed late at night, and worked weekends as needed.
I live in south Richland with my husband and have my own car. It is possible for me to begin work as soon as I find a new job.
