This mounts to the wall lengthwise. Very sturdy and holds a lot of pants (blue jeans) or other hanging items. Pegs are strong enough to hold up to 3 pair of blue jeans! Shelf above is also handy for a book shelf & misc items. Pictures shown are not in mounted position; visualize mounted on wall! A very nice and attractive piece for a country look. Excellent condition.
